{20} Questions

Here's a whole bunch of questions I have that I am usually scared silly to ask just because I don't want to be that "annoying" person that won't leave you alone because I don't know anything.  Maybe some of you can help.

Am I the ONLY one who doesn't know that much about anything?  Ha!  I hope so, because then I can get some answers to some of my questions.  hehe.

On the other hand, maybe these questions are not ok to ask, but I guess I'm gonna take the chance and ask anyway.

(Just a warning, these are not in any special order, just randomly how I thought of them.)

1) Where in the world do you get those fun ceiling tiles from?  And are there some that are made of durable material?

2)  I have always wanted to know how to get my pictures to show up larger on bloggy posts (larger than XL) like some of you do with yours?  Help photographers?

3)  How do you get people to follow your blog without having to work?  Really wanna know this one. Especially now that I have linky followers and have to start all over again.

4)  Do any of you spend weeks and even months sometimes on your blog projects because you are either waiting for some other important item to come in the mail, OR you just don't have time to finish, OR it just doesn't meet your standards for sharing via blogger.  Yeah, me neither! :)

5)  Where do people get such FUN paper (such as colored chevron paper) from for their projects?  All of the scrapbook paper I see is the same ol' same 'ol stuff and I'm bored with it.  Funny thing is, I never see it (that boring stuff) on any of your blogs.

6)  Where do I learn how to edit my own blog layout if I want to do it myself?  Are all of you that make cool stuff like that professional graphic designers?  Are there classes for such things?

7)  How many followers do I have to have before I am considered a cool enough blog to do BIG reviews and way cool giveaways?  Every time I ask, the really cool places say they are already booked.  Guess I'm not cool enough yet?!!

8)  Does it bother you if I copy your gorgeous projects and then post them on my blog?  I hope not, cuz I get really inspired by all of you and the lovely things you make.

9)  Anyone else check your blog about 100 times/day only to find nothing has changed in the past five minutes? {grin}

10)  Are all anonymous comments spam?  I'm starting to wonder.

11)  Does your family look at you like you're crazy when you say anything about your blog?  Mine always say stuff like, "what do you do on a blog anyway?", and when I tell them people can do absolutely WHATEVER they want to with their blog, they look at me like I'm even crazier.  People always seem to think things need to fit into categories, and I guess I never want to fit into just one category.

12)  Does everyone write blog posts in advance?  I'm not very good at this one.

13)  Do you schedule your posts?  Not sure why every time I've tried to do this, it just won't post and I end up having to post it manually.   How stupid can I be?

14)  Do your houses always look as immaculate as your blog posts show them?

15)  How do I use fonts from my computer?  I have all of these cool ones I've downloaded and I have NO idea how to use them.

16)  Any tips on making REALLY cool watermarks?

17)  Anyone feel like they neglect their duties a bit to keep up their blogs?

18)  Anyone have a recipe {or lots of recipes} for fun goopy stuff that kids can make?

19)  Does anyone absolutely HATE Google + and dread the day it has to be used?  Let's hope that never happens.

20)  Where do you get metal cut for your magnetic boards?

Ok, now that I've officially proven my insanity, I'll let you take some time to chew and respond.  If I'm hopeless, I guess I'll have to be ok with that too.

P.S.  If you actually made it through this whole list, I owe you a lollipop!!

You are too funny! I'm not sure, which question to answer first since I'm relatively new myself. I think the best way to meet new bloggers and gain followers is to participate in blog hops and linky parties. I try to comment on at least three blogs and I don't ask for them to follow back. I just hope they stop by to see what I'm about. As far as blogging stuff I refer to www.cornerstoneconfessions.com and www.serendipityandspice.com. Both are amazing! I'm cohosting a bloglovin blog hop tomorrow so feel free to stop by and mingle. You can find the instructions on my blog today www.thenymelrosefamily.blogspot.com. I hope I helped a little bit.

I made it all the way through your list lol and the one I know I wanted to answer was - 1) Where in the world do you get those fun ceiling tiles from? And are there some that are made of durable material?
I have personally used some that I have ordered from www.SurfacingSolution.com. They will send you samples if you need them. They work great, look great, and are really easy to use. We used them in our bathroom ceiling and they look like real old tiles for a fraction of the price. Hopefully that helped :)

Wow, lot of questions. I definitely can answer one though - You can cut sheet metal yourself for magnet boards. Get a 2 x 3 sheet at a home improvement store or $10. They have special scissors to cut it there also called tin snips. They are less than $5.

I made it through all of your questions, twice. Do I get 2 lollipops?:D

I am relatively new. I would love to see some of the more seasoned bloggers answer these questions as well.

I can answer maybe a few of your questions.

I wouldn't care if anyone made and shared a project that I made. I would love it! I think the rule is to always make sure you give due credit to who you got the idea from and a link to their site. I'm sure you already know this:)

I'm learning how to do some things on blogger on my own, like working with the layout. I'm not an expert, but I'm planning on making tutorials over the next month on what I've learned. These may be things you already know, so I'm not sure how helpful they will be to you:) The idea is to put them out there for new bloggers like me!

From what I've read from the big blogs, they gained a lot of their followers when they started doing giveaways. Other larger blogs I've heard say they gained their followers the painfully slow way.

I've been spending weeks and months on projects. Some I've put off for the fact that they didn't come out exactly how I wanted. Other's I wait to purchase something I feel is just perfect to complete it. And a lot of times we are too busy:)

I don't think there is a certain amount of followers that you have to have. I think it's more traffic. I've read this from the bigger blogs. I think one blogger said make sure you have 50,000 page hits a month.

I'm wondering about the anonymous comments, myself. They are usually there to spam you or make you feel stupid (mean comments). To be fair though, I've received anonymous comments that were normal comments. I've also been an anonymous commenter before I had a blog. And I was so frustrated when I wanted to comment on a blog but there was no option to comment unless I was on Google, or Open ID. So, I will always allow anonymous comments on my blog for that reason. Even if I have to put up with the occasional mean comment.

I've read a lot of blogs where the bloggers struggled with the balancing act of their blogs and home life. For some people it's a job, so they have to put a lot of hours into it. I think the key may be to set a schedule of how many days per week you are going to allow yourself to work on your blog, then set the hours. Like a real business. Then just disconnect when that time is up.

One more thing. Why do you feel you have to start over with your followers? I read that GFC is only going away for those on WordPress. Everyone on Blogger is safe, for now.

A question for you, if you don't mind. Do you feel it's important to put a GFC or Linky followers gadget on your blog? Do you think people are more apt to follow you if it's up there? Most of my readers are through email/feedburner. I have only a tiny amount through GFC. I've never put the gadget up for anyone to join. Somehow they still join through GFC, though. Like I said, most of my readers are through Feedburner. So, I'm trying to figure out if people just prefer to join through GFC or linky followers if it's up on your page. Perhaps it's just easier for them?

I LOVE your questions. As I sit here and look at the mess of my living room and trying to figure out how long I have to wait before I can haul out the vacuum cleaner so I can take decent pics of the couch I just finished. LOL I hate when people see my mess! I've given up on taking great pics in my workshop since I assume everyone has a dirty work space.
Going to keep checking back for more answers. :)

Great questions and I too hope that soem seasoned bloggers can help us newbies out!
Here are a few answers that I know:
1. I purchased some antique TIN ceiling tiles to hang on my hallway wall (as a magnetic photo/card display)at an architectural salvage store. They have some beautiful pieces...you might have to dig though.

6. Some of the blogs that I follow often offer tips and advice! I've learned a lot from:
http://threadingmyway.blogspot.com/2012/01/how-does-your-blog-look-resizing.html
and
Serendipity & Spice's New Bloggers Series www.serendipityandspice.com
and
Tips and Advice from other bloggers at http://igottacreate.blogspot.com/2011/12/fresh-new-year-blogging-tips.html

9. Absolutely!

11. My friends do too!

I love this idea of asking readers! I could probably answer a few of your questions... I think we're overdue for a phone call. :)

#2 I go into html code on my post and edit the size manually. I also delete the link to the full size image.

here is an example code:
< alt="" border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4nMmu47ImzU/T0z3gXeqjhI/AAAAAAAAKs8/6pf8Hp-e8As/s700/staugilizard01 .jpg" />

I delete this... href="http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=22505067"

and then to change the size I edit the s700. 700 is the size I use for horizontal images. It's usually 320. I use 1000 for vertical images.

I hope that helps! :)

#10 Yes most blogger anon comments are spam, that's why I use disqus

#12 I do, because I rarely get the chance to sit down and complete one entire thought in one sitting.

#13 I do, just make sure your dates are correct.

#14 Ha! You've been over, does it!?

#15 photoshop girl, I might be able to help you on the phone or when we get home.

#17 It's a balancing act for sure.... don't fall down the slippery slope. :)

#18 we LOVE the cornstarch and water mix... it's really fun.

MISS YOU!!!!!
